Having a long tradition in educating and training maritime and technical personnel to its merchant fleet, Romania represents the alternative source for experienced and cost efficient crews in present days.

While according to a BIMCO/ISF forecast there will be a shortage of 46,000 officers by 2010, the total number of Romanian seafarers certified for service on board ocean going vessels accounted for in 2003 was about 15,000 of which 5,000 are officers. The experience gained on board modern vessels under foreign management is their major asset. SeaWAY International has the capacity to find the right crew for every customer requirements.

Maritime Education
The Merchant Marine University (www.imc.ro) and the Naval Academy (www.anmb.ro), both located in Constanta, provide five years education programmes and a total of 350 to 400 students graduate annually. Maritime education is considered attractive to young Romanians and there are 9 applicants for each intake.
